Shredded Hardwood Bark

Shredded Hardwood

Shredded Hardwood Bark is made primarily from the bark of hardwood trees but can contain trace amounts of wood and other types of bark.

The small pieces also take slightly less time to break down, this allows the nutrients to transfer to the soil quicker.

When applying mulch it is recommended to maintain a 3″ depth to allow for maximum weed control while still allowing water to reach your plants.

If applying mulch around trees, leave a gap of a couple inches around the trunk of the tree to allow water and air to reach the bark and root system.

Red Mulch

Red Mulch

Red Mulch is a type of colored mulch.

Colored mulches work well in decorative landscape areas due to their ability to hold their color longer than natural mulches.

When applying colored mulch it is important to give the dye a chance to dry before it is exposed to rain or before sprinkling. Due to the fact that mulch retains moisture, the dye never fully dries while it is in a pile.

It isn’t until it has been spread out and exposed to air and sunlight that it fully gets a chance to dry and “lock in” the color.

The dye used to color the mulch is safe for plants and animals that it is around. Although we do not recommend allowing your pets to eat bark or other products.

It is recommended when spreading mulch around trees to leave a gap of a couple inches between the mulch and the bark of the tree. This allows air and water to adequately reach the bark and root system.

It is recommended to maintain a depth of around 3″ when applying mulch.

This depth allows for the best weed control without preventing water from reaching your plants.
