Decorative Stone and Aggregates

Stone (1/2″-1″)

1-2 stone

1″ stone is a common type of stone displayed in landscapes.

Given the weight of the material it also works well in drainage areas.

It is also a commonly used material for beneath porches and decks.

Some people prefer stone to mulch because it is a one time project which will not lose its color or breakdown over time.

Laying down landscape fabric is recommended before installing stone products to add extra protection from weeds.

Compost

compost

Our Compost is made from composted yard waste to create a consistent soil that is very nutrient rich and ready for plants.

The Compost is a screened soil, which means large contaminates (boulders, large branches) have been removed.  Small debris such as small twigs, pea-sized stones, and occasionally small pieces of plastic could still be in the soil depending on what was used in disposing yard waste.  Great for gardens and flowers.

Weight- Approximately 1000 lbs per yard (This weight can be affected by moisture in the material) The weight given is for a damp condition.

Pro-Mix Soil

compost

Our Pro-Mix is made from composted yard waste, sand, and topsoil blended together to create a consistent soil that is very nutrient rich and ready for plants.

The Pro-Mix is a screened soil, which means large contaminates (boulders, large branches) have been removed.  Small debris such as small twigs, pea-sized stones, and occasionally small pieces of plastic could still be in the soil depending on what was used in disposing yard waste.  This is our best selling soil by a long shot, and we see the same faces year after year using it while we receive great feedback.   Great for gardens, flower beds, yards, and other areas.

A small amount of sand is also added to break up the material and make it a little easier to work with. Pro-Mix is most commonly used in gardens and in seeding lawns.

It tends to be more nutrient-rich than the standard topsoil because of the added compost. Because of this we recommend the Pro-Mix for any planting or seeding projects.

Weight- Approximately 2300 lbs per yard (This weight can be affected by moisture in the material) The weight given is for a damp condition.

Sand and Soil

Topsoil

topsoil

Topsoil is a natural product and can vary in consistency and texture. Standard Topsoil can range from being very sandy to very clay based. We do our best to maintain a consistent product that is not too sandy and not too clay based.

Our Standard Topsoil has been screened. When screened, large contaminates that may be found in the soil are removed (large rocks, sticks, etc). Small pieces of debris may still be found in the soil (pea stones, etc). Clay-based soil can “clump up” after getting wet and drying, making it tough to work with. Clumps can often be as big as footballs. For a more consistent soil that is easier to work with check out our Pro-Mix soil.

It is used for most commonly used in building up low areas as well as filling up holes.

Weight- Approximately 1800- 2400 lbs per yard (depending on the amount of moisture in the material).

Mulch and Bark

Cocoa Shell Mulch

Cocoa Shell

Coco a Shell mulch is a very unique decorative landscape mulch.

It is 100% organic and is not only used for decorative purposes, but many people use it as a fertilizer for lawns, flowers and vegetable gardens.

Cocoa shell mulch is especially beneficial for around rose plants and hostas.

Cocoa shell mulch actually gets darker as it ages while bark mulch gets lighter.

Because this mulch is a bi-product of the chocolate making process, it gives off a chocolate aroma that usually lasts 2-3 weeks from the time of application.

The cocoa shells are cleaned up and screened in the chocolate making process, reducing any risk of weed seed lying within the bag.

While it seems to be quite loose and easily blown around when first applied, as cocoa shell mulch ages it solidifies into one uniform “mat” over the landscape it is sitting on. It is recommended to spray water over the area after material is applied if you wish to speed this process.

Caution: This product should not be consumed by pets.
